Area Law Enforcement
Roughly fifty cars have been smeared with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's town of Hanau close to Frankfurt, police confirm law enforcement.
Vehicles, building surfaces and postal boxes were marked, occasionally with Nazi symbols, they reported in a official communication.
Police state they were notified late on Wednesday night, when a resident observed that a automobile in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been covered with a reddish fluid.
The liquid had been placed in the pattern of a swastika, they added.
Police then found numerous other marked automobiles and building exteriors in the surrounding area.
Swastikas are prohibited in Germany under regulations banning the public exhibition of Nazi-era symbols.
Police report initial examinations show the substance was probably human bodily fluid.
"At present there remains no indication as to where it came from; investigators are not yet cognizant of any injuries in association with the event," they added.
City officials said they were working "to solve the mystery" and have appealed to the community for tips.
A high-ranking representative stated the vandalism left him speechless and had to be solved rapidly.
"This incident hits the center of Hanau and revives the pain of the extremist violent incident five years ago," he posted on social media, mentioning the death of nine victims by a shooter focusing on individuals of migrant background in 2020.
